What is Jio Fiber?

JioFiber is a fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) Internet broadband service provided by Reliance Jio Infocomm. The service was first announced as Jio GigaFiber in 2018 at the Reliance Industries 41st annual general meeting. The telecom operator then went on to rename the broadband service to Jio Fiber and commercially rolled it out on September 5th, 2019.

How to book Jio Fiber?

In order to apply for JioFiber, you will have to visit the official website of the company here and click on ‘Book Now‘ in the top right corner. You will be asked to enter your name and mobile number to generate an OTP. Once you have received the OTP and entered the same on the website, it will ask you to enter your current location on the next page and mark it either ‘Home’ or ‘Office’.

You will also have to provide your email ID on the same page. Once you have done all these steps, you will be contacted by the company via SMS or email for your new Jio Fiber connection.

Jio Fiber installation charges

Reliance Jio has introduced a new free trial offer for its users. As part of this offer, new users who sign up for a Jio Fiber plan starting September 1st, 2020, will be entitled to a Jio Fiber no-condition 30-day free trial. The free trial will offer up to 150Mbps speeds, a 4K set-top box with subscriptions to 10 OTT apps at no extra cost, and unlimited voice calling for a month. At the end of the trial month, if users are not happy with the service, it will be disconnected with no questions asked.

There are two options for new users for the free trial. They can pay a Rs 2,500 security deposit to avail the 4K set-top box, giving them access to 10 OTT apps including Disney+ Hotstar, Lionsgate Play, and more. The second option is to pay Rs 1,500 as the security amount, but those opting for this plan will not get the set-top box and the OTT apps access. This amount is refundable in both cases, should you choose not to continue the service.

How to get Jio Fiber free trial?

Jio offers a no-condition 30-day free trial of Jio Fiber to new users. As part of the free trial, new users will get up to 150Mbps speeds, a 4K set-top box with subscriptions to 10 OTT apps at no extra cost, and unlimited voice calling for 30 days. At the end of 30 days, if users don’t like the service, the connection will be disconnected with no questions asked.

Jio is offering two options to new users 30 days free trial with 4K set-top box and without it. Those opting for the former will have to pay Rs 2,500 as a security deposit. They will get access to the free subscription of 10 OTT apps, which include Disney+ Hotstar, JioCinema, Zee5, Sony Liv, Voot, Alt Balaji, Sun NXT, Shemaroo, Lionsgate Play, and Hoichoi. Those who opt for a trial without set-top box will have to pay Rs 1,500 as a security deposit.

To sign up for a free trial, follow the steps below:

1. Go to Jio Fiber official website
2. Click on ‘Book Now’ under Option 1 (with 4K set-top box) or Option 2 (without the set-top box)
3. On the next page enter your name and mobile number for OTP verification
4. You’ll then be asked to enter your address details, whether individual or corporate and email ID
5. Click submit

If your area has Jio Fiber connectivity, you’ll be contacted by a Jio representative within 2-3 buisness days for the connection.

What’s the internet speed being offered by Jio Fiber?

The Rs 399 and Rs 699 plans offer 30Mbps and 100Mbps speeds, respectively. The Rs 999, Rs 1,499, and Rs 2,499 plan users will enjoy up to 150Mbps, 300Mbps, and 500Mbps speeds, respectively. The top-tier Rs 3,999 and Rs 8,499 Jio Fiber plans offer up to 1Gbps speeds.

What are the benefits of Jio Fiber?

One of the top benefits of Jio Fiber is having direct fiber connectivity all the way to the home, as opposed to most cases where the fiber reaches only till the building and the last few meters of end connectivity are connected using a traditional cable. This reduces the overall speed and user experience.
