Former Shark Tank India judge and BharatPe co-founder Ashneer Grover has launched a new app, CrickPe, a week ahead of the new Indian Premier League (IPL) season. Managed by Grover’s new venture, Third Unicorn Private Limited, the app is available for download on Google Play for Android and the App Store for Apple iPhones. CrickPe is a fantasy sports app that allows users to create teams with real players and compete against others when a major league begins.

CrickPe Features

The app offers a unique feature where the actual playing cricketers, cricketing bodies, and real team owners can win cash rewards, along with the fantasy game winners. Users can create a team of 11 players, with players from different IPL teams and select a captain and vice-captains. The captain will get 2X points if he performs well in the actual match, while the vice-captain will get 1.5X points. The user earns points based on the team’s real-life performance, with the highest points on the leaderboard winning big prizes.

CrickPe is not just limited to IPL but also covers other cricket leagues such as Asia Cup 2023 and ICC World Cup 2023. While the app enables users to earn money, they need to enrol in certain leagues for an entry fee that gets pooled together. The operator takes a cut, and the remaining funds are distributed as cash prizes. However, players from Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Orissa, Telangana, Sikkim, and Nagaland are not eligible to play cash contests.

CrickPe Rivals

CrickPe aims to revolutionize the fantasy sports market in India and compete against other popular mobile applications such as Dream11, Mobile Premier League, and My11Circle. Grover announced the launch of the app on Twitter, calling it the “biggest revolution in Cricket since IPL”, and stated that “cricketer wins – cricket wins” with the app. However, he also cautioned users to “play responsibly” since CrickPe is a real-money gaming app.
