Redmi Note 12R price, specifications emerged via product listing before official launch

Redmi Note 12R’s price and specifications surfaced through a premature product listing on China Telecom’s website before its official announcement. The listing has revealed the entire specifications, variants, colour options, and price, leaving very little to be confirmed on the launch date, which is said to be June 30th, 2023.

In May, Redmi unveiled the Snapdragon 4 Gen 1-powered Redmi Note 12 Pro in China. Even though the Note 12R is expected to be positioned lower than the Note 12R Pro, the China Telecom listing reveals that it is equipped with a newer Snapdragon 4-series chipset. Here is a look at everything that is known about the Note 12R.

According to the China Telecom listing, the Redmi Note 12R smartphone has dimensions of 168.6 x 76.3 x 8.17mm and weighs 199 grams. In terms of design, it closely resembles the recently launched Redmi 12 5G variant in the global market. On the front, it features a 6.79-inch IPS LCD display with a centrally placed punch-hole. The screen offers a Full HD+ resolution of 1,080 x 2,460 pixels and an aspect ratio of 20.5:9. Although the listing does not mention the refresh rate of the screen, it might support at least 90Hz refresh rate.

The Note 12R is equipped with a 5-megapixel front camera. The back panel of the device features a 50-megapixel primary camera and a 2-megapixel depth / macro camera. The device will come preloaded with the MIUI 14-based Android 13 OS.

The major highlight of the Redmi Note 12R is that it is equipped with a new chipset from Qualcomm, which has the SM4450 part number. In all likelihood, the chip will be called the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 when it goes official. The listing further reveals that the device will offer up to 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of native storage.

The Redmi Note 12R will house a 5,000mAh battery. As per the 3C certification that was spotted earlier this month, the Note 12R will support 22.5W fast charging. The handset has other features, such as a microSD card slot, a 3.5mm audio jack, and a USB-C port.

The Redmi Note 12R will come in the following variants: 4GB RAM + 128GB storage, 6GB RAM + 128GB storage, 8GB RAM + 128GB storage, and 8GB RAM + 256GB storage. These variants are priced at RMB 1,099 (~Rs 12,550), RMB 1,199 (~Rs 13,700), RMB 1,599 (~Rs 18,250), and RMB 1,799 (~Rs 20,550), respectively. It will come in three shades: Midnight Black, Sky Fantasy, and Time Blue.
