Google’s latest ad campaign takes aim at Apple iPhones

Apple and Google are two of the most recognisable names in the tech industry today. With the latter’s iPhone ruling the smartphone segment for a few years now, Google’s Pixel lineup (formerly Nexus) has come a long way after mostly playing catch up to Apple’s flagship phones.
Google is now taking this opportunity to take a few shots at Apple for lagging behind the Pixel 7 series in terms of certain functionality. In a series of short ads posted on YouTube, Google pokes fun at the iPhone’s lack of features like astrophotography mode, a built-in VPN, and more crucially, at the company’s unwillingness to transition from Lightning to USB-C, to name a few.

The search giant makes a few good points in its humour-filled commercials, with the marketing team going all out on comparisons between the existing iPhone and the Pixel Fold, which is not launching in India. This campaign across social media will be tagged under #BestPhonesForever, and already seems to be picking up steam.
When will Apple launch its first foldable?
Although Apple has made some advancements in the camera and display departments, it still lags behind companies like Samsung and now Google with regard to foldable devices. It’s no secret that the Cupertino-based manufacturer has been planning a foldable smartphone internally, though it doesn’t appear to have come to fruition just yet.
A recent report suggests that Apple may miss the 2024 timeline for its first foldable, with 2025 now being seen as a more likely timeline for its arrival, rather than 2024 as previously reported. Even if Apple would be significantly late to the party, we expect the company’s marketing team to go into overdrive mode touting its capabilities come launch day.
