OnePlus is expanding its product lineup, teasing the OnePlus Open, OnePlus Pad Go, and the OnePlus 12. However, it appears they have kept another secret project under wraps: a new smartwatch.
Up to this point, OnePlus lacked a full-fledged smartwatch, offering instead a fitness tracker with limited functionality in a smartwatch form. Recent leaks suggest that OnePlus might be gearing up for a significant change.
Finally a proper smartwatch
A user on X.com, @realMlgmXyysd, has revealed details about an upcoming smartwatch from OPLUS, the parent company of OnePlus, OPPO, and Realme. This smartwatch is expected to launch under both OnePlus and OPPO branding.
Reportedly codenamed “star,” this smartwatch is currently in active development. It boasts a round display with a resolution of 466 x 466 and is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 platform, alongside the BES 2700 co-processor.
In the Chinese market, it’s set to run on ColorOS for Watch 6.0, based on Android 11 Go, while the global version is expected to use the WearOS platform. They also shared some sample watch faces that resemble the ones found on the OPPO Watch 3 series.
The feature list is extensive, including ECG, Always On Display, fist clench gestures, a crown, eSIM, blood oxygen measurement, sleep tracking, and more.
Once launched, this smartwatch will likely compete with the upcoming Google Pixel 2 and the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 series, featuring both Bluetooth and LTE models.
